Our Inspiration
The Black Iris is one of the rarest flowers in the world.
It grows near excavation sites, blooming only once the ground has been cleared.
This is the inspiration for our studio.

CO-FOUNDER AND CREATIVE DIRECTORKass is a brand strategist and creative director with more than 15 years of experience working at the intersection of design, brand strategy and social impact.
Her background spans global advertising, publishing and sustainability, with roles across multinational agencies, editorial publications and purpose-led organisations.
Her work has included leading multinational rebrands, designing editorial publications and advising leaders navigating complex, regulated and emotionally sensitive markets.
She has a natural ability to identify the elements that make brands clearer, more coherent and more memorable.
Kass brings a rare combination of creative vision, strategic thinking and technical precision, ensuring strong ideas don’t just live in a deck, but can be implemented in the real world.

CO-FOUNDER AND DIRECTORHugo has spent over 15 years working across advocacy, public policy, brand strategy and executive advisory. He has held senior roles at large industry bodies, advocacy groups and boutique consultancies and led some of the largest advocacy campaigns in Australian history.
His work has spanned government relations, policy development, stakeholder engagement, reputation management and organisational positioning.
His experience includes both sides of disciplines that most organisations treat separately: helping organisations build stronger brands while helping them navigate policy and stakeholder environments where their identities are tested.
This combination is what Studio Black Iris was built on.
Throughout his career, he has been driven by a consistent purpose: helping organisations position themselves so they can create the greatest impact possible.
